Following the success of Mayfield House and the continuing commitment of the company to assist people of Calderdale with learning disabilities the Trustees decided to look for suitable premises for another Residential Home. Ferncliffe was purchased from the Church of England Diocese in 1987 to provide living accommodation for eight people.

The home is situated in the Ovenden area of Halifax, surrounded by pleasant gardens and open playing fields at the rear. It is very warm, friendly and welcoming and is a well known integral part of the community.

Everyone who lives there plays their part in the running of the home, ably supported by a brilliant staff team. The home is organised around individual needs and wishes. Everyone is consulted whenever any changes are planned especially when their own rooms need redecorating. Each room is fully furnished and decorated reflecting individual choice and personality to create enjoyable, relaxing personal space. The main lounge, sun lounge and dining room are well equipped places for getting together and enjoying each others company.

People are encouraged to pursue their interests and the experienced staff make every effort to ensure that everyone participates in activities of their choice and gets the most out of life. Ferncliffe is a friendly, peaceful home, giving special attention to comfort and safety and like our other two homes was recently awarded an excellent rating by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
