Seems such a long time since we last updated our Fundraising page;
No we haven't stop fundraising as this is an ongoing process for The Mayfield Trust this aspect of our operations is very important to us. We just forget to update what we have been up to.
We have a dedicated Fundraising Group made up of staff from each service who meet regularly to discuss plans and progress. Our Fundraising Co-ordinator is responsible for overseeing all the current projects and events through to satisfactory completion.
We still continue to raise funds where ever we can;
Participating and having a Stall at the Halifax Gala,
This has been a very popular event over the years, we run the stall with staff giving their own time to help. While a lot of the residents, children and young people we support take part in the proccession and really enjoy it.
for the past 5 year at the end of November we have had a Christmas stall on the precinct in Halifax, been some terrible weather some years but perseverance prevailed as it is all for the wonderful people we support.
raffles and fetes are a few of the activities we arrange on a regular basis.
Christmas Craft Fair
The Christmas Fair which was held in early December 2008 at the Halifax Central Library was well attended and very well supported by a number of staff who gave up their time for the benefit of everyone we support. Many thanks to everyone involved for all their contributions and hard work.
The Whole Hog
Once again a brave team of staff, family and friends took part in The Whole Hog Challenge at Hesley Wood Sheffield,on a bitterly cold wet morning in November 2008. The event was a challenging seven mile run through water and mud while facing challenging obstacles on the way.There seems to be no stopping this crew, could it be that they are super fit or maybe they enjoy the pain or is it just commitment to the people we support.
All proceeds from this event went to funding the new Sensory Room at Mayfield House.
Below are some of the bigger events we arranged during 2007 which have made a valuable contribution to our fundraising efforts.
Stars in their eyes
More recently staff from Ferncliffe another of our residential homes organised a 'Stars in their eyes' evening which proved to be a great success. Gifts received for the auction on the night included a signed shirt from Manchester United player Gary Neville, a signed photograph donated by Liz Dawn ( Vera Duckworth of Coronation Street) from her own personal collection and a personally signed photograph from Emma Bunton, one of the Spice Girls. A big thanks to all three and everyone else who contributed and helped to make the night a success. Special thanks to Wild Turkey, especially Dave Kershaw, the band's drummer and trustee of the Mayfield Trust for all his hard work. The amount raised was £1,486.
In June 2007 staff and friends of The Mayfield Trust participated in an Abseil & zip slide at Baitings Dam to raise funds for a new conservatory at one of our residential homes, Mayfield house. We had a great response from the community and the final total raised was approximately £2,600.
