The first ever Mayfield Trust Summer Ball took place on Sunday 23^rd August 2009, it was held at The Halifax Bowling Club, Thrum Hall following the success of a similar event held there last Easter.

We were invited to hold the event by members of the local Halifax bowling club, who generously provided the venue, food and raised money on the night.

The event was very well attended by both people who live in our homes and staff who work there. Everyone took the opportunity to "dress to impress" by digging out their "long frocks and ball gowns" and dusting off their "dinner suits suits, dickie bows and tuxedos"

A great evening was had by everyone who attended, and future events are now being planned.

An Indian restaurant has pledged a night's takings to children in Calderdale.

Mr. Manwar Ali, manager of the Crown Tandoori House, Halifax, is giving the cash to the Mayfield Trust summer scheme, which gives children with various disabilities fun and educational outings.

Rose Shaw, fund-raising coordinator, said: "We've really struggled with funding this year, but this just goes to show there are a lot of nice people out there, and we'd like to thank them all for their generosity."

Staff said they were touched by his generosity - and that of other local businesses, which have given prizes for the charity to raffle off at its Summer Ball, which was held last Sunday 23^rd August 2009, at The Halifax Bowling Club..

The charity curry night was held at the Crown Tandoori House, Crown Street, Halifax, on Wednesday 19^th August 2009.
People who live at Ferncliffe house were joined by members of staff from The Mayfield Trust and other diners to enjoy the food. "The food and atmosphere were brilliant"; all the proceeds from the evening were donated to The Mayfield Trusts 2010 Summer scheme.
