This week plastering within the home is taking place and the completion date for this project is expected to be the 7th May 2010. Two of the people we support are very excited and looking forward to moving into their new home.

Summer Scheme Funds
Wednesday 17th February 2010 2:29 PM
Kilimanjaro Challenge
How time flies. It only seems like last week when we wrote an article about Eddie Doran and John Hill taking the Kilimanjaro Challenge to raise funds for our Summer Scheme. It has come around quicker than we thought . Next week on the 26th February they will set off to climb the mountain. Good Luck to you both, thank you for thinking of us and contributing to our ever popular Summer Scheme.
Mediterranean Night
Dave Kershaw, one of the Trustees of the Mayfield Trust and his wife Janice who works at Ferncliffe are planning a Charity Mediterranean Night. The evening will be full of fun, fabulous food, music, raffle, auction and many more fundraising activities.
Tickets £7 Dress code,
' Holiday Gear ' of course
The event will take place at:
Northowram Community Centre on Saturday 17th April 7.30 - 11.30pm
All proceeds on the night will go towards our 2010 Summer Scheme which gives children and young people with learning disabilities and other complex needs 10 days of fun filled activities during their school holidays.
If you are interested in this event and would like to buy tickets contact the office on
01422 322552
So much effort by so many people is put into raising funds for the Summer Scheme. Just when we thought things were starting to look bleak, we were very pleased to learn that Halifax Excellence Cluster have agreed funding of £12,000, £2,000 of this will be coming from family services. Great news and many thanks Rodger.

Quality Care
Wednesday 17th February 2010 1:51 PM
In December 2009 our Nursing Home at Gibraltar Road received a Gold Standard Award in palliative care. Janet Vaughan the Co-ordinator and Christine Dempsey the deputy Co-ordinator planned for this inspection and were aiming for an accreditation in Going for Gold in quality recognition. They were absolutely delighted when they were told that they had achieved the Solid Gold in quality assurance. The gold standard framework in care homes is about helping people live well until the end of life.
This was acheived through a high standard of training, development and commitment of a highly motivated staff team. Janet and Christine travelled to London earlier this year to be presented with the award.

The quality of our work has been further recognised by the recent inspection by The Care Quality Commission which has resulted in Mayfield House maintaining their excellent (3 star) status. Care at the home is of the highest possible calibre as the C.Q.C have not found fault with any aspect of running the home.
Richard Heywood the Operations Manager commented:
I am delighted with the palliative care award which further builds on the excellent quality standards of The Mayfield Trust residential services. Many thanks to Janet and Christine for all their hard work and commitment and to Sharon and her team at Mayfield House for an exceptional achievement.
Christmas Party
In December 2009 the Halifax Bowling Club Thrum Hall hosted a Christmas party for The Mayfield Trust. The party was well attended by residents, staff, family and friends.

No need to say much more just looking at these pictures shows that everyone had a fantastic time and put a lot of effort into their fancy dress costumes.

The residents and staff are now looking forward to the Easter Parade which will be held at the Bowling Club. We would like to say a big thank you to the Steward & Stewardess Jim and Yvonne for inviting us and always making us feel welcome.
