Friendship, Creativity and Adventure

Smiles, Music and Friendship at Dance and Smile

The people we support on a Wednesday had a lovely time at Dance and Smile at Forest Cottage in Ovenden.

It is a wonderful place to meet people from other services, make new friends and enjoy lots of fun activities together.

It was a fantastic session filled with smiles, music, laughter and enjoyment all around. We are already looking forward to the next one.

Volunteering Success: Maisie is Making a Difference

Maisie has really settled into her volunteering placement at the RSPCA charity shop on Queens Road.

She is working hard to make sure everything is clearly labelled and well organised, helping the shop run smoothly and creating a welcoming environment for customers.

We are really proud of her dedication, positive attitude and the fantastic job she is doing. Keep up the great work, Maisie.

Fun, Friendship and Dancing at Arden Road

The people we support on a Monday had a lovely time at Arden Road.

It is a fantastic place to socialise with people from other services, enjoy plenty of laughter and make new friends. The afternoon was filled with fun activities, including dancing, quizzes, raffles and bingo.

Everyone had a wonderful time, making it a brilliant afternoon full of smiles, entertainment and great company.

Connor's Week of Fitness and Baking Success

Connor has been keeping busy over the last week and achieving some fantastic results.

He has been working really hard in the gym, showing great determination and continuing to push himself to improve each week. His commitment and focus are really paying off.

Connor has also been busy in the kitchen making blondies, and we can happily confirm that they were absolutely delicious.

A brilliant week of fitness, dedication and baking skills. Well done, Connor.

A Weekend Full of Creativity and Adventure

Our outdoor activity on Saturday was unfortunately rained off, but that did not stop us from having a fantastic day.

Instead, we enjoyed a lovely time at the Hub, making Father's Day cards and exploring lots of different sensory equipment. It was a great opportunity to get creative and have fun together.

On Sunday, the weather was much kinder, so we headed out into the community. We enjoyed walks around Ogden and had lots of fun bouncing on the inflatables at Shroggs Park.

It was a wonderful weekend full of creativity, adaptability and outdoor adventure, with plenty of smiles along the way.

A Wonderful Day Exploring Bradford

Aneesa and Ehsan enjoyed a lovely day out together this week.

They caught the train to Bradford and spent time exploring the city, taking in the sights and enjoying a walk around the local area.

It was a great day of travelling, exploring, and spending quality time together. Everyone had a fantastic time and made some wonderful memories along the way.

On Thursday, 18th June 2026, four dedicated members of staff from the Mayfield Trust nursing service will be taking on an incredible challenge to raise money for the people we support.

The team will attempt to walk approximately 100,000 steps in around 12 hours, starting at Gibraltar Road Nursing Home before walking to Woodhouse Road, Todmorden, where they will begin the climb up to the famous Stoodley Pike. Once they reach the summit, they will head back down and complete the journey all the way back to Gibraltar Road.

To make the challenge even more memorable, staff will also be completing the walk in fancy dress!

Every donation will help the Mayfield Trust continue supporting people with learning disabilities and will go towards improving equipment, activities and renovations that benefit the people we care for every day.

This is going to be a huge physical challenge:

• Around 100,000 steps

• Approximately 12 hours walking

• One very big hill

• Plenty of sore feet

• All for an amazing cause

No donation is too small and every pound will help motivate the team along the route.

Thank you so much for supporting our Miles for Smiles challenge and helping us continue making a difference.
