Mash, Magic and Miles

This week, Ross has been busy in the kitchen, working alongside his support worker to prepare his mash.

It’s great to see Ross taking an active role in everyday tasks, making choices and doing things for himself with the right support when needed. Moments like these help build confidence, develop practical skills and, most importantly, maintain his independence.

We love seeing Ross getting involved, having a go and enjoying the process!

This week, Kelly and Sanan have been enjoying some relaxing and engaging time with the OMI Projector.

The interactive visuals, colours and sounds provide a lovely sensory experience, giving them the opportunity to explore different sights and sounds at their own pace. It’s wonderful to see them taking in the changing colours and images, responding to the different sensory experiences and enjoying the activity together.

Sensory activities like this can create opportunities for relaxation, curiosity, focus and meaningful engagement, while providing a fun and enjoyable experience.

We love seeing Kelly and Sanan exploring, enjoying and experiencing new things together!

This week, Leah enjoyed a lovely day out with her support worker, making the most of her 1-to-1 time in the community.

Leah spent some relaxing time at the library, exploring and enjoying some of her favourite books. She then headed off to enjoy a game of pool, giving her the opportunity to have fun, make choices and enjoy a different activity.

It’s wonderful to see Leah making the most of her time in the community, enjoying activities that interest her and building confidence and independence along the way.

This week, the people we support had a fantastic time taking part in the Walk and Wheel event with Active Calderdale at Shroggs Park!

It was a great opportunity to get out into the fresh air, keep active and enjoy being part of a fun community event. Everyone joined in at their own pace, whether walking, wheeling or simply enjoying the atmosphere and encouraging others along the way.

Events like this are a wonderful way to promote physical wellbeing, build confidence, spend time outdoors and strengthen our connections with the local community. It was lovely to see everyone getting involved, supporting one another and having a great time!

Well done to everyone who took part — you all did brilliantly!

The people we support have been making the most of the lovely surroundings with a relaxing walk along the canal.

Getting out for a walk is a great way to stay active while enjoying some fresh air, taking in the scenery and spending quality time together. Along the way, there was plenty to see and enjoy, from watching the boats go by to taking in the peaceful canal views.

This week, Nathan and Ross enjoyed some lovely time in the sensory room, exploring the different sensory experiences available and spending time with the OMI Projector.

The OMI Projector provided a calming and engaging experience, with colourful visuals, changing patterns and sounds for Nathan and Ross to explore at their own pace. It was lovely to see them taking in the different sights and sounds and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the sensory room.

Sensory activities can provide opportunities for relaxation, focus and exploration, while creating a comfortable environment where everyone can engage in a way that feels right for them.
